Industrial Designer – Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating mechanical part designs and technical layouts that support production efficiency and product excellence. You will also contribute to the laser cutting workflow by managing DXF files and nesting operations, ensuring smooth integration with internal manufacturing processes. This is a unique opportunity for individuals with strong technical acumen and a hands-on approach to work on high-end custom manufacturing projects—particularly within the architectural millwork, agricultural infrastructure, and precision sheet metal cutting domains.
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical parts based on specific project requirements, ensuring accuracy, manufacturability, and practical functionality.
- Develop layout plans for farms, grain handling facilities, and other production sites, contributing to efficient space planning and workflow optimization.
- Produce technical drawings for client quotations and production.
- Prepare elevations and technical sections in line with design and fabrication needs.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy across all technical documents and design outputs.
- Provide technical support for nesting operations, including creating and managing DXF files for laser cutting.
- Collaborate with internal departments such as R&D, operations, and production to ensure seamless integration of designs from concept to execution.
- Act as technical support to product managers, helping maintain quality and detail throughout the lifecycle of each project.
Requirements
- Education Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field. Experience
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a relevant position, preferably in industrial product design, millwork, mechanical systems, or production layout planning. Software Skills
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor 3D is required.
- Strong experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks (required).
- Experience with Revit is a plus.
- Familiarity with ANS (Analysis and Simulation) software for mechanical testing and performance evaluation is considered an asset. Language Requirements
- Professional-level English is required (especially for reading and understanding technical documents).
- French is a plus. Key Competencies & Personal Traits

- Detail-oriented, self-driven, and highly organized.
- Good understanding of industrial workflows, material layouts, and production processes.
- Experience in the doors and windows industry, millwork, sheet metal design, or custom fabrication is highly valued. Preferred (Assets)
- Experience in nesting and CNC programming, particularly in laser cutting using DXF file formats.
- Familiarity with software such as FastCAM, Fusion 360 Nesting, or FSCUT is a strong advantage.
